What's this all about? Well, JawsSucks.com is a place where you can rant and rave, complain, shout and screem or just feel slightly less alone because there are hundreds of people experiencing the same frustration as you every day.

More importantly though, JawsSucks contains a growing list of links to resources that will hopefully help you get the most out of this over priced and under developed product.

Personally, I think Jaws sucks big time. I found it to be unstable, irritating because of its use of authorization keys and a bit buggy. I prefer to use Window Eyes from GW Micro - it has no authorization keys and I think it works better with non-windows apps, plus its easier for a non programmer to configure as it does not use a scripting language.

Ok, something I don't do often. I'm going to rant about jaws on vista! It sucks, and it's still very buggy. I still can't believe the fact the FS doesn't support the microsoft outlook callender out of the box! You have to buy scripts! Same with the voice recognition. So, I beg of you jaws users, if you're on xp, stay on xp. it's good for you!

Thanks to the handfull of jaws scripters out there, we are actually very lucky. Because of them, we have compelling access to the Winamp media player, Skype messaging and voice chat service along with many other applications that we have come to use regularly. Here are a number of links to script files that you may find helpful.

These scripts support the winamp library feature that is not accessible when using the standard Jaws scripts for Winamp.
Jaws Scripts for Skype
These jaws scripts greatly enhance the usability of this product. Jaws works reasonably well without these scripts however you will really notice a huge improvement when you try Dug's enhancements.

Jaws does not provide any kind of good access to the Outlook 2007 calander. However, a company specializing in developing custom scripts for jaws will shortly sell a solution to this. Now, please ask your self, why should you have to purchase a screen reader that should provide access to the entire Office Suite and then purchase a separate add on to provide access to an area that should already work out of the box? This type of shoddy development on the part of freedomscientific is becoming more and more evident and with these lapses, ordinary Jaws users will have no choice but to purchase third party scripts.
JVist is a set of scripts that give you full access to the voice dictation component of Windows Vista. Again, this should be provided as part of the jaws product however that's already been covered.
